Last Minute City Breaks: Where to Go in Europe

Hike AustriaFull-throttle holidays can cost a fortune and in a day and age where money is tight, it’s not always possible to book a week or two in the sun. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some time away from the rat race and with last minute hotels, you can take advantage of some rock bottom prices too. Book some time off work and head online to see what’s available – if you’re flexible and not fussy about where you go, you could enjoy a city break for next to nothing.

The joy of city breaks is that the sightseeing opportunities ensure that you will never be bored. While you could just use the time to relax, unwind and enjoy quality time with your other half, you could make the most of your stay and see as much as possible. Whether you opt for a European city of wish to go a little further afield, many destinations are full of intrigue and enthralling attractions that will ensure boredom doesn’t even cross your mind.

Vienna The capital of Austria has plenty to offer its visitors. From strolling around the Museums Quartier to indulging in a slice of the city’s specialty Sachertorte cake, there’s plenty to see, do and eat. A trip to the Baroque Hofburg Palace is highly recommended, too.

Bruges Hop on the Eurostar and you could be in Bruges within four hours, giving you plenty of time to explore the city’s breathtaking architecture and exquisite sights before delving into the local culture with the array of museums on offer.

Madrid This cosmopolitan capital of Spain is jam-packed with attractions. From the excellent live music scene to the beguiling cultural treats, Madrid has something for everyone, including a buzzing nightlife that will keep you dancing all night.

With so many last minute hotels available, all over Europe and beyond, you’ll be spoiled for choices.

Funny, we´re just back from a short trip to Vienna – and you´re right: it´s a beautiful city, with great museums, some are also full with exciting contemporary art and it´s a great city for summertime – we swam a lot in the Donau. And it´s not such an expensive capital as Paris or London… highly recommendable 🙂
